On December 12 of this year (an interesting date of 12/12/12), I turned 60 years old.
This means that I've been on this side of Eternity for six decades and have experienced a lot of happenings in my lifetime--including several predictions (from the ridiculous to the sublime)that the world (as we know it, anyway) was going to come to an end on this or that date (or, at least, by a certain time).
Those times have come and gone--and life continues to go on.
Some of the people reading this blog-entry are around my age, others older, others younger.
I would be interested in having you to join my discussion of the following question:
What Other End Of The World Predictions--Besides 12/21/12--Have You Survived?
My take on all of this?
Leave this in God's care and go about doing what He has wanted us to do with our lives:
1. Love God, others, and ourselves.
2. Be good caretakers of The Third Rock From The Sun.
3. Do our best with the above two assignments, and let God take care of the rest.
Even having said this, I find it interesting to explore the What If?s along with finding it refreshing in the way that knowing that you have survived some of the worst-case scenarios that have been associated with the end of the world (e.g. having our planet getting out of its orbit and being hurled into the burning sun; another ice age, Jesus arriving [WONDERFUL!!!]--but in a very bad mood [OUCH!!!], etc.) has the potential to give one a greater appreciation of life.
For those who don't know this already, I have written a blog with the title of:
Goodbye, Before! Hello, After!
That I started on "the last day" before 12/21/12 (a.k.a. 12/20/12) and had, originally, planned on following up with an entry on THE day, itself, but am (as of this late evening writing about 1 1/2 hours away from the midnight that will turn the time into 12/24/12) currently working on a 12/23/12 entry that should be posted before midnight...or, we can only hope...
Anyway, thanks, in advance, for checking this out...
