Is it possible that, at any minute, life as we know it could be no more?
If so, is this good or bad?
It depends on how you view life.
In my opinion, what would be bringing about the end of the age would have to do with Jesus returning and making all things new.
Does Jesus return just one time? or Has He been returning time and time again throughout the ages--and, if the latter, is it just a one-time thing at the end of a person's earthly life?
I believe that it's definitely two out of three in that Jesus comes for us when our earthly lives are over and, also, that He appears to us in many ways with some of those ways seeming more significant than others.
As for this end of the world business...I believe that there have been various ends of a certain age that indicate that one part of the life of this planet has come to an end and another is beginning. The Ice Age is one example of that.
Also (in less major ways than The Ice Age) parts of our history change in such a way as to show that things won't be the same again--with a positive change being something like the fall of The Berlin Wall and a negative change being 9-11.
Anyway, based on a story inspired by a calendar created by the ancient Mayans that has a last date on it that would be equivalent to December 20, 2012, speculation got started that this might actually mean that there would be no other days going on beyond then.
Exactly HOW this end was going to take place inspired several scenarios--with many of them being worst case scenarios:
Things like our planet getting destroyed by a giant meteor; Earth getting out of its orbit and hurling itself towards the sun; another ice age happening; a smorgasbord of natural disasters all happening at the same time; etc.
Even in the case of a Biblical Second Coming, a lot of the versions describing what this would be like didn't sound exactly appetizing--things happening such as vehicles suddenly being relieved of their Christian drivers leaving them to run into other vehicles still containing passengers to be killed and sent to hell with some of these passengers being as young as seven years old.
Anyway, one thing I've personally decided to do is to call December 21, 2012 a time of a new beginning--as in a time for starting a blog that will have one last entry in it before December 20 has come to an end (which has already been done) and to use the rest of the blog to keep a diary of sorts starting on December 21 and moving forward. I haven't written my first December 21 entry in there yet but will be doing so before the day is over, God willing and the creek don't rise...
For now, I'm sending you an invitation to check it out...
I would like to cordially invite you to read my latest blog that has been inspired, in part, by the date December 21, 2012. My first entry was put into it last night (December 20, 2012).
The name of the blog is:
Goodbye, Before! Hello, After!
http://goodbye-before-hello-after.blogspot.com
and
The title of the first entry is:
The Last Day & The First Entry
http://goodbye-before-hello-after.blogspot.com/2012/12/the-last-day-first-entry.html
The blog is still under construction--plus, its decor will change frequently--so you'll be able to watch it being built whenever you visit there...
On this note, I'm going to close and start mailing out these invitations...
