I'm Currently Doing Very Intricate Work...
Just a note to let you know where I've been lately just in case you've been missing me at Facebook and/or other places.
At this time, I've been engaged in very intricate work with the goal of getting my Internet life--which, also, affects various parts of my life away from the computer--more organized and streamlined.
When I get this closer to done (that is, with enough completed to make it ready for public viewing), I'll let you know and will share some links with you.
For right now, however, I need to stay on-task--with the exception of those times when I need to be taking care of "real life" matters along with the basics in my life such as getting enough sleep, preparing and eating healthy meals, going to the bathroom, etc.
I'm happy to report that there are no longer any mice scampering around here--which saves me a lot of headaches.
I'll be writing something about that at Epinions before long.
One thing I'm going to be doing now is sharing a link to my Epinions profile page.
As you'll be able to see when you get there is that I've been (and am still in the process of) sprucing it up a bit as well.
On top of all of this, I've been trying to keep up with paying my bills along with keeping up with my mom who is now in a nursing home and, recently, has been in the hospital.
I'm happy to report that she's making a remarkable recovery and will be returning to the nursing home before long where everybody misses her because she's such a sweet little old lady!!!
Although she's very happy at the nursing home, her goal is to get back to living in her own home where she has lived since it was built in 1967 (and--before that, with a few months spent in a mobile home so that the three boys of the family who bought our home would be able to spend time getting to know the neighbor kids before starting school that September--in the original house that came with the farm we bought and moved to back in the spring of 1954) where she can look out on familiar surroundings again and enjoy being more on her own.
I plan on moving into her home with her sometime this spring. I would, of course, move in first and get things ready.
After that, she will be able to move back here.
That's the big plan, anyway.
However, I want to make sure that things are also in place where she will be receiving a high enough quality of professional/skilled care that she'll be reasonably safe in doing so.
Therefore, I plan on going about this gradually by, initially, having her over for visits but where her primary place will still be the nursing home.
Even when the time comes that she's able to live in her own home on a permanent basis, we want to stay connected to the nursing home just because everybody has been so nice to her there and has treated her like a family member or close friend instead of just another element of the head count.
Due to some problems we're having with people who don't have our best interests at heart, I'm not making public just where she is other than to say that she's in another town.
When we're to the place where we're able to get out and take road trips again, we'll make visits there part of some of our trips.
Anyone from there will also be welcome to visit with us as well, though it would probably be good to pre-arrange those visits so that people won't be dropping in at all hours around the clock or they might find us in bed, in the shower, or even out-and-about.
Hopefully, we and Pinky will be out chasing down the Circustime Icecream trucks before their season is over for the year. Same goes for eating at Frazier's Dairy Maid and Gene's Root Beer Stand.
By then, my mom should have her teeth, gums, and mouth in much better shape and be able to enjoy more of the food once more.
We'd also like to be out looking at all of the Christmas lights this year.
Today, I need to take care of arranging to pay some bills. I'll be going between that and working on my big Internet project.
For now, however, I'm about to call my mom. It's always a highlight of my day to be able to talk to her, and the feeling's mutual!

"Skeletons In Florida's Closet" Award
Have you ever had anything so uncanny happen to you that there's no way that it can be a mere coincidence?
For instance, there's this woman named Laura over at Writing.com. We have just recently met, thanks to our being in a couple of blogging circles together.
She left such kind and encouraging words for me in a discussion thread that I wanted to know more about her so that I could be a better friend to her, as we're sharing some of the same issues.
One way to do that at WDC is to check out a person's port (short for portfolio) and read some of her/his writings.
When I arrived there, I could see that she had a real treasure trove of writings.
It was like: "Hmmm...Which one do I want to read first?"
Even there before this wonderful looking smorgasbord with my reading plate ready to serve myself, it didn't take me long to make my choice.
The title intrigued me as did the introduction.
I would later find out from her that she had written this story based on a Writer's Cramp prompt.
She was interested in the cause of rescuing children from abusive situations created by people who were supposed to be giving them compassionate care in places such as orphanages, foster homes, reform schools, etc., so this prompt drew her in to write about a place that she had never heard of before reading the prompt.
As I read her words, I wondered if she knew Roger Dean Kiser. Of course, I would find out later that she knew nothing about him until I shared a link to his website as part of a review I did of her story--including this same review in the Awardicon presentation I did for her as well (which is what you go to if you click on the hyperlinked word "review."
Laura has already been to the website AND has plans to buy some of Roger's books that are for sale there.
One note of interest is that, on his website, you'll be able to read several of his stories and not pay a cent.
If you aren't familiar with Roger and/or Laura, I hope you'll take some time to check them out.
