What Other End Of The World Predictions--Besides 12/21/12--Have You Survived?

On December 12 of this year (an interesting date of 12/12/12), I turned 60 years old.

This means that I've been on this side of Eternity for six decades and have experienced a lot of happenings in my lifetime--including several predictions (from the ridiculous to the sublime)that the world (as we know it, anyway) was going to come to an end on this or that date (or, at least, by a certain time).

Those times have come and gone--and life continues to go on.

Some of the people reading this blog-entry are around my age, others older, others younger.

I would be interested in having you to join my discussion of the following question:

What Other End Of The World Predictions--Besides 12/21/12--Have You Survived?

My take on all of this?

Leave this in God's care and go about doing what He has wanted us to do with our lives:

1.  Love God, others, and ourselves.
2.  Be good caretakers of The Third Rock From The Sun.
3.  Do our best with the above two assignments, and let God take care of the rest.

Even having said this, I find it interesting to explore the What If?s along with finding it refreshing in the way that knowing that you have survived some of the worst-case scenarios that have been associated with the end of the world (e.g. having our planet getting out of its orbit and being hurled into the burning sun; another ice age, Jesus arriving [WONDERFUL!!!]--but in a very bad mood [OUCH!!!], etc.) has the potential to give one a greater appreciation of life.

For those who don't know this already, I have written a blog with the title of:

Goodbye, Before! Hello, After!

That I started on "the last day" before 12/21/12 (a.k.a. 12/20/12) and had, originally, planned on following up with an entry on THE day, itself, but am (as of this late evening writing about 1 1/2 hours away from the midnight that will turn the time into 12/24/12) currently working on a 12/23/12 entry that should be posted before midnight...or, we can only hope...

Anyway, thanks, in advance, for checking this out...

Getting On The 12-21-12 Bandwagon
In A Meaningful And Lasting Way

Is it possible that, at any minute, life as we know it could be no more?

If so, is this good or bad?

It depends on how you view life.

In my opinion, what would be bringing about the end of the age would have to do with Jesus returning and making all things new.

Does Jesus return just one time?  or  Has He been returning time and time again throughout the ages--and, if the latter, is it just a one-time thing at the end of a person's earthly life?

I believe that it's definitely two out of three in that Jesus comes for us when our earthly lives are over and, also, that He appears to us in many ways with some of those ways seeming more significant than others.

As for this end of the world business...I believe that there have been various ends of a certain age that indicate that one part of the life of this planet has come to an end and another is beginning.  The Ice Age is one example of that.

Also (in less major ways than The Ice Age) parts of our history change in such a way as to show that things won't be the same again--with a positive change being something like the fall of The Berlin Wall and a negative change being 9-11.

Anyway, based on a story inspired by a calendar created by the ancient Mayans that has a last date on it that would be equivalent to December 20, 2012, speculation got started that this might actually mean that there would be no other days going on beyond then.

Exactly HOW this end was going to take place inspired several scenarios--with many of them being worst case scenarios:

Things like our planet getting destroyed by a giant meteor; Earth getting out of its orbit and hurling itself towards the sun; another ice age happening; a smorgasbord of natural disasters all happening at the same time; etc.

Even in the case of a Biblical Second Coming, a lot of the versions describing what this would be like didn't sound exactly appetizing--things happening such as vehicles suddenly being relieved of their Christian drivers leaving them to run into other vehicles still containing passengers to be killed and sent to hell with some of these passengers being as young as seven years old.

Anyway, one thing I've personally decided to do is to call December 21, 2012 a time of a new beginning--as in a time for starting a blog that will have one last entry in it before December 20 has come to an end (which has already been done) and to use the rest of the blog to keep a diary of sorts starting on December 21 and moving forward.  I haven't written my first December 21 entry in there yet but will be doing so before the day is over, God willing and the creek don't rise...

For now, I'm sending you an invitation to check it out...

I would like to cordially invite you to read my latest blog that has been inspired, in part, by the date December 21, 2012.  My first entry was put into it last night (December 20, 2012).

The name of the blog is:

Goodbye, Before!  Hello, After!
http://goodbye-before-hello-after.blogspot.com

and

The title of the first entry is:
The Last Day & The First Entry
http://goodbye-before-hello-after.blogspot.com/2012/12/the-last-day-first-entry.html

The blog is still under construction--plus, its decor will change frequently--so you'll be able to watch it being built whenever you visit there...

On this note, I'm going to close and start mailing out these invitations...

Shortly Before Or After Midnight...

Today is Saturday, December 15, 2012, and this past Wednesday I turned 60 years old.

I'd originally had plans to decorate my Epinions profile page with a birthday theme for the day of December 12 only and, after that, change it back to a Christmas theme.

However, I wanted for as many people to see it that way as possible before I changed it, so I went ahead and left it up.

However, I want to start redecorating for Christmas by shortly before or after midnight that brings in December 16, so this is going to be the last day for my birthday display.

I'm also going to share links to three of my Epinions with you now.

These, of course, will continue to be part of my collection of what I've written and will write at Epinions, so you don't have to hurry up and read them quite so quickly.

However, I hope that you'll read them very soon for the simple reason that I think you'll find them to be good reading and especially fitting for this time in history.

Here's transportation to them:

Today, I'm 60, And THE Black Dress Still Prefers To Stay In My Future...

Back in 1970 (42 years ago),I celebrated another milestone birthday:  my 18th.

Of course, I wanted to buy one of those THE Black Dress kind of black dresses to wear when my boyfriend took me somewhere special that evening.

This story shares the elusive nature of THE Black Dress when it comes to being owned by me as well as whether or not Gary was happy with what I finally ended up wearing.

Did I wear the right kind of outfit for what we ended up doing that evening?

Dear Don (Or To Whom It May Concern), Please Hold Me To This Promise...

This is my idea re: how to set up a truly fair and doable way for Uncle Sam to collect income taxes.

If you like what you see, please make sure that you share it with at least five of your friends and encourage them to share it with at least five of their friends.

You might also want to share it with elected officials representing you.

In fact, it wouldn't make me at all unhappy if you shared this entire StickyBabble note with them.

Over Three Decades Ago--32 Years, To Be Exact--What Was I Doing?

Sharing my memories of late on December 8, 1980 when John Lennon was senselessly murdered.

At this time, I don't exactly have a fat bank account (an understatement), but I decided to splurge some and order a delivery from Columbus Avenue Pizza.

After all, I had turned 60 and thought that milestone made me worthy of at least a little pampering.

As soon as I find the time, I'm going to write a glowing report about this wonderful Mom & Pop establishment!

I need to sign off for now and get this up and ready to share, but I hope that you'll go here to learn about a variety of great reads (mostly, by others but some by myself)...

Thanks for dropping by!

Winter Is An Especially Good Time For Reading

Here in Indiana, it's said that we can, usually, depend on both daytime and nighttime temperatures staying above freezing until at least the latter part of October.

After that, it won't be until sometime in April when we can, once more, be absolutely sure (under normal weather conditions) that temperatures will remain above freezing 24/7 until the following October.

To me, anytime of year is a great time to read.

However, there's something extra special about being all warm and cozy indoors reading while looking out my window from time to time at a day when "...the weather outside is frightful..."

While you're reading, you might like to also be enjoying some kind of warm and comforting drink such as hot cocoa with lots of marshmallows and/or some hot tea.

When it comes to tea, I have various brands that I would highly recommend to you, but, for now, I'd like to make you aware of a relatively new one that I discovered a couple of years ago:

For now, I'm going to sign off and return a little later...

This note is under construction.  Please return when December 16 is still new to find some recommended reads and other special things awaiting you...

Introduction

Just think of each entry in this blog as being a kind of virtual sticky note:  Nice and simple like something you might stick onto the exterior of your real life refrigerator's door to reach the people you want to reach but, also, having available the bells and whistles of Cyberspace such as hyperlinks, videos, graphics, etc.

Come back often to see the latest thing I've posted along with things I've posted in the past.
